Casino Night Kicks Off the Year-End Fun
As we begin the last quarter of 2019, many happy events are on the horizon. The Foundation’s Casino Night, “Welcome to the Roundup,” on November 9 is sure to be enjoyed by all who attend. As we described in last month’s announcement of this annual fall event, this is an evening of fun for both couples and singles as all enjoy fine hors d’oeuvres, tasty dinner choices of New York steak, rack of lamb or swordfish, two bottles of wine on each table and dancing to the music of 27 Outlaws with plenty of room for line dancing. Enhancing the fun will be more gaming tables to use your “FUNdation” money with the top “gamers” receiving cash prizes Ticket sales were brisk on September 8 but, to see if tickets are still available, contact Nancy Schubach at 916-740-4453. Gather your friends, get out your best western wear and reserve a full table of ten or fewer as needed, Reservation forms are located in the Lodge wall file outside the Administration Office.
Approaching year’s end is also a time when we take stock of what we no longer need in our lives and decide to declutter. This might be some type of vehicle that either no longer runs or is no longer needed, such as a golf cart, a boat, a pick-up truck and, yes, even an automobile, all in any condition. The Foundation’s partnership with DonateLocal offers an easy way to remove the vehicle while making a donation to the Foundation. A simple call to the DonateLocal office, 916-759-6186, brings a tow truck to your house to move the vehicle to their Roseville facility where the skilled staff check and update everything to make it more salable. They then place the vehicle on their sales lot and, when sold, send you a receipt for the full amount of the sale as a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation. The Foundation then receives the proceeds of the sale after deducting repair costs and DonateLocal’s small profit. The best part? They do all the work! For complete information, pick up a flyer in the wall file outside the Administration Office.
Speaking of donations, in case you lost track over the summer of our annual Friends of the Foundation Appeal, you might consider making your tax-deductible donation before the end of the year. Your support in any amount guarantees our mission of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” and enables us to continue our work on your behalf. Donation envelopes are also in the wall file.
