As the Weather Warms, We Get Active
The days are getting longer and landscapes are still showing the benefit of recent rain and sun. This time of year, we are energized to get out and enjoy the fact that we live in California where, even this early in spring, golfers, cyclists, those going for a stroll or playing bocce, croquet or tennis can count on comfortable weather. For the Foundation, this is the time of year that begins our stretch of activities intended to meet our mission “. . . to provide services that address the physical, cultural, educational and social needs of Sun City Roseville residents.”
This month, pleasant weather will encourage us to come to the lodge on March 8 to socialize with family and friends while engaging in a fun afternoon of Bingo! A 15-game package costs just $20 and the final, 16th game sells for an additional $2. Many participants bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy while playing and possibly winning a game or two. Prizes are $100 for each of the first games and a generous $250 for the final game. If you happened to miss the presale on March 1, game cards will be sold beginning at 12:30 pm in the hall outside the ballroom; the games start at 1:00 pm. Fresh daubers are provided.
March 1 is the first date that tickets will be sold at the monitor’s desk for the April 13 Speaker Series event. While the Foundation funds these quarterly events, Sharon Mowry, Sun City Activities Director, finds a great variety of informative, interesting and enjoyable speakers. For those new to Sun City, the tickets cost just five dollars and we guarantee that you will get more than your money’s worth!
Mark your calendars now for our annual golf tournament, scheduled for June 5. Foundation Director Kent Hilburn is already planning some new and fun components for this year’s event, so start polishing your clubs.
Please Note: Last month, we encouraged that you work with DonateLocal California, a program we have partnered with to remove your unused vehicles, prepare them for sale, donate net proceeds from the sale to the Foundation and provide you with a receipt for the full sale amount as a tax-deductible donation. We are currently studying our partnership further and, until we can decide our future relationship, we ask that you put your vehicle donation on hold and not engage this group.
