A charitable service organization by and for the residents of Sun City Roseville
by Toni Fisher, Chair and Public Relations Director
We Have Had Quite A Year!
As we put the lid on 2019, we look back on the many successful events and services provided directly by your Foundation or indirectly through our funding of Association programs like the Speaker Series and Sunshine Services. Many residents enjoyed the two Bingo! afternoons and the Annual Golf Tournament; many also benefited from the helpful services available to all residents.
Last month, a happy gathering of residents enjoyed the Casino Night, “Welcome to the Roundup!”
Director Nancy Schubach again organized a very successful evening with good food and enjoyable dancing and gaming, culminating in the awarding of great prizes. A helpful group of volunteers offered their time and talents to assist at all stages of planning and running the evening. We thank Phyllis Melberg, Linda Vincent, Diane Gard, Colleen Tovey, Joy Winston, Elizabeth Gustafson and Linda Breninger for their contributions which made for a successful evening.
Additionally, supporters donated a great assortment of raffle prizes. Our thanks goes to the Timbers Restaurant, Timber Creek Golf Course, Sun City Fitness Center, Laura Baxter, Linda and David Breninger, Rosemary Dinse, Toni Fisher, Linda and Jerry Frederickson, Lenora and Bud Harrison and Nancy Schubach. Prizes ranged from gift cards for a variety of shops and restaurants, fine wines, coupons for golf and the Fitness Center and several gifts for helpful services.
Foundation events have dual goals, providing enjoyment while raising funds for the Foundation’s services. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, funds raised support the needs of our residents, both owners and tenants. Over the years, funding has provided helpful capital asset items like lighting at Schoolhouse Park, the handicapped accessible golf cart and an upper body strength machine for the Fitness Center. The Home Maintenance Service volunteer teams perform many household repair and replacement services every weekday such as minor plumbing repairs, changing ceiling light bulbs, replacing smoke alarm batteries or the alarms themselves, if needed. While there is no charge for Foundation services, tax-deductible donations are appreciated and help to continue these services. The Foundation website, scrfoundation.org, has a list of services and other foundation information. You can request a service by clicking on the Electronic Maintenance Request button at the top of the page or print a form to be dropped off in the Administration Office. Need help with a service request or have a question about the Foundation? Call 774.9040, leave your name and phone number and a phone volunteer will return your call. Volunteers reply to calls each day, Monday through Friday.
